Fragments of Home: Eastern European Stories from Newham / by Paulina Korobkiewicz

The Central and Eastern European Photography Club, facilitated by Paulina Korobkiewicz and supported by Elana Juzelenaite, is a collaboration between Rosetta Arts, Centrala, and the Roma Support Group, commissioned by Culture Within Newham and funded by Arts Council England.

The exhibition showcases work by Renata Drusktye, Nesd, Ella Natalia Hopkins in collaboration with MIRIAM, Zoltan Varga, Elena Juzelenaite, and Paulina Korobkiewicz, featuring photography, film, installation, and textile.

The club met regularly over six months at Beckton Globe, exchanging stories and reflecting on identity, migration, personal journeys, and connections to Newham. Each session was shaped by the participants’ interests—some focused on photojournalism, others on nature photography, while some explored textiles and how to integrate them into photographic work. Others experimented with film and documentary-making. The club evolved organically, guided by discussions among participants, who shaped its direction, developed friendships, and learned from one another. The exhibition highlights these collaborations and the collective narratives that emerged through this process.

After the structured sessions ended, some participants continued meeting with Paulina and Elena throughout autumn and winter to develop individual installations for the exhibition.
